A Food Hub featuring the food you love to eat, locally grown, fresh from the Food Next Door farm for sale, located in Twelfth Street Mildura (opposite the Waves pool & Mildura Information Centre) will be opening in the new year.
People rise higher against challenging winds when tethered to community.
Since 1979, Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council (SMECC) has provided local migrant and refugee communities with a range of services. SMECC continues to work with and represent all culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, within the Mallee region. SMECC’s core function is to connect communities, promote learning and share knowledge and resources.
Food Next Door Co-operative: nurturing land, nourishing people.
Food Next Door is an initiative with the goal of relieving the suffering or distress suffered by newly arrived migrants and refugee groups, particularly those without access to land and living in rural and regional areas.
We’re working hard to solve this issue by supporting these groups to re-engage in farming and grow the food they love to eat and share, especially their traditional foods.
Working together co-operatively, we can all be successful, find real solutions and create opportunity.
